Twas Two Weeks Before Christmas

Twas two weeks before Christmas

And all through the house

Not a creature was stirring

Not even a mouse.

They all had gone shopping

From largest to small

In a dangerous land called

The Shopping Mall.

 —

Parking was frenzied

No one was giving.

When we got to the stores

We felt blessed to be living.

The shoppers looked vicious

As they carried their sacks

From one store to another

On sore, thrown-out backs.

 —

Three people passed out

From odorous fumes

As they stood by the counters

In aisles of perfumes.

A brawl broke out

In a scurry for toys

“Your dad’s in jail”

Ho, ho, ho girls and boys!

One week before Christmas

And everyone is home

Placing their orders

Online and on phones.

As for me, you’ll get gift cards

Or nothing at all,

Cause at Christmas I’ll be

Far away from that mall.
